Philippines have entered into a strategic partnership that will set the stage for the emergence of a dynamic new home for the country’s foremost theater company in the vibrant arts and entertainment enclave of Eastwood City.

This groundbreaking collaboration, formalized through an official contract signing between Kevin Tan, CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc., parent company of Megaworld, Graham Coates, first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, and Mindy Perez-Rubio, president of Repertory Philippines, marks a significant milestone for both companies as they come together to elevate the cultural and entertainment landscape in the heart of Metro Manila.

The brand new theater will rise at the fourth floor of Eastwood Citywalk and has a total space
spanning 1,400 square meters. It features a contemporary classic design and an expansive
mezzanine and common area.

The main theater boasts a seating capacity of 500, providing an intimate yet spacious setting for patrons to enjoy the spectacular performances and theater productions that Repertory
Philippines is renowned for.

The new performing space is set to open its doors in October 2024 with the inaugural show and Repertory Philippines original production “Jepoy and the Magic Circle”, a spectacular show that
will captivate audiences and set the stage for an exciting new chapter of the famed theater company.

“We are very honored to give Repertory Philippines its new home in Eastwood City through this landmark partnership. More than signifying our commitment to offering diverse cultural experiences to our valued patrons and communities, this new theater symbolizes our shared vision of creating a vibrant cultural hub that puts the spotlight on the world-class talents of Filipinos, fosters creativity and inspires the next generation of playwrights and theater performers,” shared Megaworld Lifestyle Malls head Graham Coates.

The arrival of Repertory Philippines is a big boost to Eastwood City as it further solidifies its status as a leading entertainment and lifestyle hub in the country, and a hotbed and thriving hub for up-and-coming Filipino artists and performers. The collaboration also aims to foster a thriving arts community, attracting artists and theater enthusiasts from across the metro.

The new location of Repertory Philippines, meanwhile, gives theater-goers access to Eastwood City’s diverse array of global brands, retail stores, chef-driven restaurants and new immersive experiences for all ages.

Ticket prices and show schedule will be announced soon through Repertory Philippines’ social
media accounts and website.

REP launches The Bridge Project skills exchange initiative with MINT College partnership
The collaboration provides free masterclasses to help uplift Filipino theatrical talent

Leading theater company Repertory Philippines (REP) has teamed up with the Meridian International College (MINT) – A Business, Arts and Technology School to bolster a new generation of Filipino theater practitioners, strengthen the local theater industry, and broaden educational opportunities with a global perspective.

REP and MINT College made their partnership official through a ceremonial signing on January 8 at the Makati Garden Club. The noteworthy occasion marks the roll-out of The Bridge Project, the skills exchange program to be conducted by REP’s 2024 season opener Betrayal’s esteemed lineup of theater professionals.

Betrayal is the renowned play by British theater icon Harold Pinter which premieres in March 2024. REP’s Betrayal director, Victor Lirio, the Manila-born, New York and London-based actor and theater director, leads The Bridge Project together with London’s West End-based Filipino actors James Bradwell, James Cooney, and Vanessa White, and New York-based Filipino creatives, set designer Miguel Urbino and sound designer Fabian Obispo.

The Bridge Project provides Filipino theater artists and aspirants free masterclasses, lectures, and readings that will enhance their theater skills like voice and scene work, set and sound design, and even Shakespeare rhetoric. With the MINT Campus as the official venue, the program is designed to deliver collaborative learning.

Founded in 2010, MINT College places a premium on the arts by offering a variety of specialized art-related degrees such as Music Business Management, Multimedia Arts, Film and Video, Performing Arts, and Fashion Management and Design.

“We are delighted to join forces with MINT College on The Bridge Project,” says REP President and CEO Mindy Perez-Rubio. “This partnership reflects our commitment to nurturing young talent and providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the performing arts industry.”

“At MINT College, we believe in empowering deserving artists to pursue their passion while developing the essential skills for a successful career in performing arts,” shares Hendrik Kiamzon, Executive Vice-President of MINT College. The Bridge Project will offer them a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn from theatrical experts.”
