What's The Buzz Tell Me What's A Happening?
This year, REP’s legendary Workshop for the Performing Arts goes online and moves to a computer screen near you. Classes will be virtual, but learning will be actual. There will be classes for four age groups; kids, pre-teens, teens and adults. Training in musical theater, voice, dance and a new class on costume design will be offered.

There’s buzz about the REP Workshop being offered year-round. Can you dig it?
During the lockdown, our out-of-the-stage creativity was unleashed as we launched our new entertainment brand online: REPisodes.
The exciting series was launched in May with A TEA PARTY WITH QUARANTINED PRINCESSES: A REPisode featuring the Quarantined Princesses of REP Theater for Young Audiences.
No quarantine could keep us from throwing a fancy royal tea party!
We had Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Princess Jasmine, Rapunzel, Beauty, and Cinderella in an interactive virtual tea party, regaling our viewers with their favorite princess songs and sharing lessons on what qualities make a true princess: kindness, smarts, courage in the face of adversity, and a heart full of love. For an extra touch of fun, our royal invitation included a caption for the little kiddie viewers to come in their best princess costume and to bring tea, biscuits and cookies along for the livestream. We also invited them to submit their princess selfies! We then crowned 22 Little Princesses for 2020! What could be more adorable?
Next up, following closely on the heels of our first REPisode, we unveiled STAGE KISS AND TELL: A REPisode featuring the Dream Team that launched the REP 2020 Season Opener STAGE KISS. We went behind the scenes to probe into the creative process of building the onstage-offstage world of STAGE KISS, and brought together the production’s stellar mix of creatives, cast, and crew in a synergistic roundtable discussion. The REPisode was a witty exploration of their creative process, as well as a fun dive into backstage shenanigans including a game of Kasal, Kiss, Kill that ended up with hilarious jaw-dropping results!
Both REPisodes were presented in conjunction with the Open House Fundraiser for the benefit of vulnerable theater workers who had been displaced by the pandemic.
In June, two REPisodes were launched back to back. The third installment of REPisodes was CAROUSEL’s YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE performed by 22 members of REP’s production–led by Nikki Gil and Gian Magdangal in a resounding universal anthem of faith, hope, and love. Striking a chord in these tough times, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is one of the most glorious highlights from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL and is unmistakably one of the most powerfully inspiring songs from the R&H musical theater canon. Especially relevant in this current pandemic storm, its uplifting message continues to reverberate, strengthen, and inspire.
On Independence Day, with national fervor in our hearts, we launched our fourth installment of REPisodes: MIONG’s HOW BEAUTIFUL AND GALLANT IS OUR FLAG. With lyrics by Joy Virata and original music by Ian Monsod, the song was performed by 60 actors from both the original 1998 production and the 2019 revival. Donning red, white, and blue, the patriotic colors of the Philippine Flag, the singers’ passionate voices soared and culminated in a heightened crescendo that echoed the Philippine National Anthem.
Combined, there were over 50,000 views for these four REPisodes.

In a strategic partnership with CIGNAL, REP also played to millions of television audiences in the comfort of their homes through the TV airing of our MIONG 2019 production. The filmed-for-TV airing was also available for viewing on the Cignal Play app.
Phew! Yes, we sure had a lot on our plate since our pivot to the digital platform, and even now, “June is Bustin’ Out All Over!”
2021 Season
Speaking of bustin’ out all over, who else is excited for our production of CAROUSEL? If you’ve been wistful, and humming along to “If I Loved You” for a full 20-second hand wash during this GCQ, be heartened as we open our theater doors in February 2021 and bring you this masterpiece R&H musical as our 84th Season Opener.
And in September 2021, REP Theater for Young Audiences’ (RTYA) SNOW WHITE AND THE PRINCE will enthrall and delight young audiences, as has been the RTYA tradition for 27 years and counting
